Services

General or clinical Psychological Services for Adults

We provide therapeutic services designed for individuals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to self-reflection and personal growth. Our approach focuses on helping clients explore their challenges and strengths, ultimately aiming to maximise their potential and discover greater meaning in their lives.

Our objective is to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where you feel empowered to share your experiences openly. We work collaboratively to build a deeper understanding of your current circumstances, enabling you to effectively work towards your therapeutic goals.

Psychological Support for Children and Adolescents

We provide comprehensive therapeutic services for children and adolescents navigating a diverse range of challenges. Our support extends to issues such as emotion regulation, anxiety, depression, challenging behaviors, social difficulties, school refusal, trauma, family separation, and coping with life transitions or stress. Young people from all backgrounds can benefit significantly from therapy, and early psychological intervention is often key to fostering positive long-term outcomes for both the child and their family.

Our approach involves collaborative work with you and your child to establish healthy patterns of behavior and communication. While your child may be the primary focus of support, we firmly believe that sustainable and effective change is best achieved through active parental involvement and, when appropriate, communication with their school.

We understand that children thrive within a connected support system. Depending on your child's age and presenting concerns, we may suggest an initial individual session with you, as a parent or caregiver. This allows us to gather a detailed history and provides a confidential space for you to discuss your child's difficulties and your therapeutic goals for them.

Comprehensive Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Assessments

Our practice offers specialised assessments designed to thoroughly evaluate complex presentations, including concerns related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Conduct Disorder (CD). This comprehensive evaluation is integrated with a cognitive assessment (IQ test) to provide a holistic understanding of an individual's strengths and challenges.

This combined assessment approach allows us to:

  • Gain a detailed profile of cognitive functioning: Understanding intellectual strengths and weaknesses (e.g., verbal comprehension, working memory, processing speed) is crucial for accurate diagnosis and tailored support.

  • Identify specific neurodevelopmental differences: We utilise evidence-based tools to determine if diagnostic criteria for ASD or ADHD are met.

  • Evaluate behavioral and emotional patterns: This includes assessing for symptoms associated with ODD and CD and exploring how these might interact with underlying neurodevelopmental profiles.

  • Develop precise, individualised recommendations: The integration of cognitive and diagnostic information enables us to create highly specific strategies for educational support, therapeutic interventions, and home-based management.

This in-depth assessment is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing significant difficulties in multiple areas of functioning, and for those whose presentation may be complex or unclear. Our aim is to provide clarity, inform effective interventions, and empower individuals and families with a roadmap for optimal development and well-being.

Understanding Fees and Rebates

We aim to make psychological support accessible.

Here's what you need to know about fees and potential rebates:

Medicare Rebates (Better Access Initiative)

We provide psychological treatment under the Australian Government's Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. If you're eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), obtainable from your General Practitioner (GP), you may receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Please be aware that a gap fee will apply, which varies based on your individual referral needs.

Other Funding Bodies

A gap fee may also apply if you're claiming through NDIS, TAC (Transport Accident Commission), or Workcover. For specific out-of-pocket costs, please contact our clinic directly.

Private Payments

You're welcome to attend sessions as a private paying client without an MHCP or other funding. While this means no rebate is applied, it offers flexibility and direct access to our services.

Obtaining a Mental Health Care Plan

To get an MHCP, schedule a longer consultation with your GP. It doesn't have to be your regular doctor; any GP can assist. When booking, inform the clinic that you're seeking a Mental Health Care Plan to ensure adequate time. It's completely normal to feel a bit nervous discussing mental health with your doctor, but remember they regularly support many individuals seeking mental health assistance.
